What kind of mileage *should* I be getting in my GTX in the city? Right now per the DIC Im getting 12.5, this is driving to work 7 miles one way, all city driving hitting no less than 7 stop lights and cruising at any given point for no longer than a mile at the very most. I have a brand new o2 sensor for what its worth. I dont drive it like its stolen, I try to baby as it as much as I can but nothing seems to help unless I hop on the highway at some point, which is not an option for my commute.

Anything I can do other than a tune to try and improve my mileage? The limited mods the car has are in the sig. I just cant believe these cars would get such crappy mileage in the city from the factory, and I have a free flowing exhaust which I would think would make it better if anything!

That's definitely a weird mileage. when was the last time you changed your plugs n so forth? In all honesty you "should" be getting close to 20mpg if not more. I do around 24mpg in the city driving in very similar conditions to what you described your trek to work as.

Check your tune.

YEAH, 12 is extremely low for a GP of any year or age. That's like full size Dodge Ram mileage or less. :)

Tell me about it, its f*ckin killing me! Im thinking about trying some seafoam, checking the plugs (I thought they were new but cant remember what the kid told me), and having the tune checked. Just a matter of time and money, which I am low on at the moment thanks to my wifes need for new kitchen appliances lol

Errr, if I'm in stop-and-go traffic, I'm lucky to break 10 mpg. NORMAL city I pull off 18, and highway I get 35...go figure.

I get about 13 in the city with the Cutty. The highway gets me in the low 30's, though. Sounds like a tune up of both the engine and the PCM might be in order.

Seafoam it, change the oil, change the plugs and wires, clean TB and MAF, clean air filter, change fuel filter, change the tstat, flush the coolant, and run some fuel injector cleaner through. If you still get bad mileage after all that, then get your car tuned. If your car gets bad mileage after that, something is FUBAR.

I get between 15-17 mpg in the city. I am getting a little less now that I put in my stock intake.

What I dont get about the tune thing, is that I have a stock PCM in there from a freakin Regal. I know I should get it tuned for better performance and mileage anyways, but I dont know how that could be a culprit. The car runs great, nice and strong, only thing I can notice is a slight cutout on the 1-2 shift at WOT, but other than that the scans indicate all is well. Maybe I'll rescan it again with some around town driving to see if theres anything I can figure out :-/

dead weight kills gas mileage. clean out your car, remove everything you dont need. that includes the 7 dead hookers in thr trunk.

then change your o2 sensors.

One thing that I noticed when I got my car tuned.. Looking at one of the tables, I was SHOCKED. There is so much more fuel economy to be had.

Adding timing will improve economy as well. I run 45* on the highway.

me to I get right about 10 miles to the gallon. But im looking to fix that by one slowing the hell down. i drive 5-7 over speed limit no matter were im at. Also I think im in a need of a good tune up.

Sounds like you might have a bad Engine Coolant Temp Sensor; over time they get gunked up with antifreeze (like the Low Coolant sensor in the radiator), which insulates the sensor, and can give you poor mileage. Autozone sells them for around $13(TU178). I'd replace it along with the thermostat, especially with colder weather on the way.

I know the way i drive and how bad i can make it, lets say i can drive it any where as bad as 175KM to 350KM out of a full tank (175KM's out of a full tank was a record for me :) )
