I got a new job at an auto repair place a couple weeks ago, and they have an exhaust tube bender. One of the guys said he could make me a catless 2.5 downpipe for under $50. So my theory was go with the downpipe because its cheaper, and i wont lose as much low end before i have the chance to tune. But with headers i would get better gas mileage wouldnt I? I plan on doing a cam before im done with this car too, so what would be the better option.

what are your goals for the car. if you want to stay N/A and not go much farther then jsut simple bolt one go with the DP if you even think you might top swap or cam in the future get the headers

also going catless does not free up much HP and removing the cat is fedraly ilegal

im probably not doing a top swap unless i find a great deal on a whole setup. I want to do a cam sometime in the future(next two years). I almost bought a set of headers a couple months ago, but then i needed a new wheel bearing, and two tie rods, so i had to pay for all that instead.

would headers give me better gas mileage by opening up the exhaust? If it did i would probably do that, and get a tune because i will be driving more in the next two years because of college

i noticed 0 gain/reduction in gas mileage after i got my headers. IMO, the headers are cheap enough now to where you could get em, and since you work at the shop, have them bend you a new DP for it because the SD headers have a bad ubend. do that and you'll be set for future mod bug bites.

Higher flow exhaust and headers make your car a whole different beast.

You bumped an old thread to say this, then make a thread asking how much power a high flow exhaust. We should be asking WTF. Sound is a worse dyno than your butt. ;-)
