Can our LIMs be ported? and is there any reason/gain to it?

Yep, it can be done.

As for gains not.sure how much. By its self probly more harm than good unless the heads are done to match, to keep the air flowing. ( if just the intake is done you will end up with larger hole to a smaller hole making a "step" and that will just disrupt airflow. The other common porting is the opening for the blower which is most commonly done for intercooler setups to maximize use of the ic opening.

I am sure others will chime in with more but that should be the basics behind it. I don't know for sure how big or small the gains will.be and will vary depending on other work.

Like mine I have the sc open for ic and I gasket matched the outlet of the lim, then stepped the port to just a hair larger than the gasket on the head side to keep the air flowing. You want your air path to step from smaller to slightly larger so there is no "ledge " to catch the air or cause turbulance. I did my gasket matching then blended back into.the runners to keep the transitions smooth, then just cleaned up the rough spots in the factory casting, again to keep the air moving smooth. I am guessing they are just a little under a stage one head. And I expect with every thing together I should see some decent gains and good airflow.

Hoping in about a week I will have dunk numbers and see about his much good I have done ( I wont know for sure as this is an all new setup, )

Yes it can be ported and no gains without doing anything else like stated above.

I just polished the LIM runners on the 97 when changing the gaskets just because I HATE CASTING MARKS!!!!! No gains, but at least the air is .1% less turbulent
