im right around 80,000 on the car and i want to change the plugs. i have a k&n cone filter and a 180 thermostat what would be a good set of plugs with out spending a fortune on them and should i replace the wires or can i get away with the ones that are on there. ssecond to get at the back can i on bolt the front dog bones and use a rachet strap to pull the motor forward..thanks..

I wont give you a specific plug, I use the stock replacement from autolite cuz I have no mods, its a DD for me right now. I would do wires with plugs while you have them unplugged. I have not tried the ratchet strap but my repair manual says it should work, I also heard that doing them from underneath is pretty easy too.

The stock heat range plug for the L36 is the autolite 606 one down is the 605 the next one down is the 104 and 103 and so on with your mods I suggest the 605's to help drop kr along with the 180 t stat you got installed already.

you really dont need to drop to a cooler plug. you should run cooler plugs when you increase hp or compression. With all the gt mods i have, im running ngk tr-6 plugs which are equal to the autolite 605s one heat range cooler than stock. running a stock .060 gap. A cooler t-stat and an intake really isnt enough. do you have a custom tuned pcm yet?

i would just run the autolite 606 or some stock heat range ngks. with your 180* t stat, ur not really running that much cooler except for when you doing some highway driving. the pcm tune will let you set your fan turn on points at 180* so its always at 185* no matter what. im sure somewhee where you live there might be a gp owner with a tuner who could upload a tune file for you

plugs u can get at parts store. as far as plugs, most people will say just buy stock replacments. ac delco. if you wanna dress up the engine bay with some color, get the Taylor 8MM wires. Ive had them and they work great.

so i finally got the plugs and wires changed, i was able to get them with out having to go under the car or tilting the motor forward.... i put anti seize on the threads and i cleaned off the points on the coil packs, i only snuged the plugs ..i took it for quick drive and kinda got on it and it ran good so i shouldnt have to worry about any thing happening when i leave for florida on friday with the gp..or thursday night should i check to make sure their still tight...

They should still be tight, you really only have to sung them up. I would suggest keeping the old ones (if you havent tossed em already) as spares.
