So I checked the oil level today and it was down to two operating holes...the car wasn't properly leveled but still..
maybe 1/2 or a full bar difference..

We changed the oil a month ago, and I did make sure it was full as in half a hole away from being at the full mark..
We put in Castrol syntec, 5w30... mixed in with some Valvoline regular.. as we didn't have enough..

I called a dealership today, not the one we got the car from, and I asked about the PCV valve, and they had two (they had to order the more expensive one), one with an assembly, 29$ or just the valve, 9$... could it be just the pcv?

I read up in the bulletins, #05-06-01-035A, that the exhaust stem valve seals could be an issue...I don't know how to identify these...
I know on start up, there's no white smoke, until after several seconds of running, in cold weather.. like 5 degrees C,... remote starting the car and walking up to it... I do see this on other GM's too, well today there wasn't any, like -10.. at certain points...

Could it be anything else? leaks I don't really think so as I haven't seen anything leaking yet...

Some things to note:

I do take the car to work 4 days a week, well soon no more as no job.. but the trip is around 3-4 km one way, so the car does reach operating temp by the time I get go work....

Even when we got the car, in September, in warmer weather the oil level did seem to go down a bit, but a much less rate..

2007, GP, 61k kms, 3800 naturally aspirated..
Put just over 1000km's since the last oil change

I do get vibration in R, D, 1,2,3,.... at idle with foot on brake...
some noise from the engine when warm... as in other thread... change coolant next year...

Dealers here will charge 100$ just to look at things... well now its the powertrain, and ends Feb 2012.
Their known for finding excuses...

My plan of action is to examine and replace PCV< depending on which one to get...
Then checking oil in a little while and see where we stand...

edit -, gas mileage is ok not great.... ~200km on a half a tank.... and coolant reservoir looks lower, it was fine until the cold weather....

thank you.. I may edit this post tomorrow or something in case I forgot something!

get an OEM PCV from a dealership. you dont save that much going with a partsource/autozone/canadian tire version and they arent quite the same as stock.

so today I finally decided to get around to change the pcv valve....

I though everything would go smooth, but it didn't.... I was trying to take out the MAP sensor, by wiggling it out... gently... and it broke.....

So now its stuck inside the hole... and the sensor is now loose... I couldn't pull out the PCV valve... I'm pretty unhappy about this.. and not the first time something like this has happened.... this sensor isn't hceap either in canada..... I'm thinking of just gluing it for now...

ya well this sucks, disappointing, family lost confidence in me big time... sigh..

I noticed that the rad cap, which I have taken off before, was getting hard to screw back on... I try to take it off now and its really hard... I'm not gonna dare now in the cold weather... prob end up breaking the rad or something... but I'm thinking to change it once we do a coolant flush.. is a regular non ac delco one fine... or best with AC?

Thank you

lol that radiator cap hates you, then again i've never taken mine off but more than twice i think :P , i wouldn't see why another cap would cause a problem, hell it may help with this siezeing problem your getting from the old cap, as far as the confidence thing goes i just stopped carrying lol you can swap engines but as soon as you mess up one thing your back to [] 1, whe n you do the flush i would try to take it off if it dosen't work then we'll cross that bridge when it comes :P

heheh ya a few things hate me... hehe.. but would a generic 15 psi rad cap be fine... or is it better with AC delco..?

You haven't heard of anyone breaking the threads on a radiator? I'm a little scared now...
I do recall having to tighten it to stop leaking...

lol ya... its hard to stopcaring hehe, might bother me later down the road.... yup the flush is being planned this year... just debating on which coolant to get ,and what is the vibration with the brakes applied hehe...

vibration when brakes applied usually = warped rotors, kinda common on big heavy cars with little brakes.

it's usually frowned upon to mix oil blends, though I doubt that is your problem. Do you see any oil leaks? One trick is wash the bay down really well. Pour some dye in the oil. Drive. Then examine with a UV light and Glasses.
