I have a car that I really need to get rid of, so I talk to a friend of mine that owns a local car dealership and he said if I can get rid of a the knocking sound he can buy the car from me and sell it at an auction. So my question is, do you think it would work if I put a quart or two of that Lucas Oil additive (which is thick like syrup) in with the oil when I change it? It only makes the knocking sound around 2,300 RPM's. Let me know. Thanks.

It could just be a cracked flexplate. I would check for that.

if its the engine then its done but thats another thing to look into. But if your friends sold the car for you and it quiet with in a few weeks then the new owner has the right under the law to come back after him. So you better watch your back about selling the car like this.

this is stuff i have done when trading in a POS car with a bad engine 80% of the time it will mask it.

Studdhorse please go head on somewere else with that bullshit man. No one wants to hear it. Sorry for the off topic but. He needs put in his place. The motor honey could work depending on how bad the knock is and were its comming from.

Cool thanks. I will give it a try this week and hopefully it will put a band aid on it so I can get rid of this headache.

also up there i would like to make a correction on my post i would add oil for a knock not remove oil. that would make it wourse i remove oil when the car burned oil (like i did when the guy test drove my truck ;-) )

hope you can get it to trade in then it;s the dealers problem

are you sure its just not low on oil? if its not the oil then its either a rocker arm of maybe a lifter?

Changed the oil about two weeks ago. I'm going to try the oil additive and see what happens. I'm just getting sick of thinking about this car and want it gone.

lifter ticket is my guess. you'd know if the motor was gone. i was there when a buddy of mine blew up his SRT-4. It's not a "slight tick"

It could be many things. Timing chain, lifter tick, flat cam lobe, or any worn part in the lower. I'd have to hear it to know.
