Hey,,, I've got an 02 GT and i'm thinking of getting an old supercharger out of a junk yard or even a new after market. I heard it was a pain in the ass and the entire computer had to be re-programmed. Is it worth it????

Budget yourself in the $1500 range, and refer to this for a partslist of what is needed: http://www.grandprix.net/ubb/ultimatebb ... 004227;p=1

If you want a little more pep, yes it is worth it. It is not the most bang for your buck, but it actually isn't that bad. If you want to go really fast, go turbo.

The other way to do it is with the ZZP SS M90 kit. Rather than replacing everything from the heads on up like the complete top swap, the ZZP kit uses a custom intake manifold to mount the supercharger to the L36 heads. It's less work, but probably more money than you could get a complete top swap for.

You could do a top swap for a lot less than $1,500. WBS used to sell all the parts for IIRC $899, or $1,300 with all the gaskets and other replaceable parts. Ed Morad would probably be able to hook you up with most of the parts for under $1,000.

If you're really crafty, you can get the entire engine/trans bolted together, both halfshafts, wiring harness, and the PCM for less than $1500 from a junkyard. At least around here I can.

***I am not thread jacking, or I'm sorry if I am, but there is no reason on starting new thread on the same thing. ***

I got a friend selling his Pacesetter headers, ported blower, and I think the XPZ cam to me for 300 dollars. I think its a good deal. I got the M90 install kit from zzp.

What else do I need in order for this swap to be done?

If you have an XPZ you better be getting some custom heads, since you'll need them anyways to get the correct set-up going, you'll also need extra pullies, tensioner, LIM, fuel rail, injectors, custom tune, and some add-on wiring, I am sure I am missing more though

very simple to do. E-mail edmoard and tell him u want to do a stop swap. He will give u a list of all the stuff you need to do it and tell you the price. I got all my stuff for $650 shipped. U will need to do some basic mods first though such as intake, Ported Exhaust manifolds/p-log or headers. 180 t-stat, 3" DP with ubend deleted. those basics will help. Then you have to have someone toon the car because the timing is very agressive on the GT compared to the GTP. You can drive i though untuned just take the supercharger belt off to keep you from getting on it. I blipped the throttle when i was untuned and i got 8*+ of knock instantly. Took me a whole day to complete.

Yea for around $1500 bucks its the easiest way to turn your GT into a super sleak fast fun car. But like the said if you want some pep turbo is the way to run it.

turbo is definately much better form an efficency/power perspective. A little more expensive, but you will be much better off in the end.
