Just lookin to raise my compression by a point, wondering what the easiest most cost effective method of doing this would be, im not lookin to get insane compression as i still will be using my 05 gt as a daily driver. And i still intend on using 87 octane.

You can use thinner head gaskets. Such as the muti-layer cometic head gaskets they come in different thickness.

But, its not really worth the effort for the work vs results. Your better off getting an HV3 / PLOG / or headers

Raising compression then still wanting to use cheap gas = jank modding. If you're going to spend that much money doing something which has little results with no other mods and cut corners (use gas which will cause more knock with higher compression ratio's), then you're wasting your time and money.
Stick with an HV3, some exhaust work, rockers, and a good tune and call it a day. No reason to pull the heads for a couple extra HP when it can be achieved using much easier techniques.

^ seriously, Do it once, do it right. And spend the extra 5 bucks to put higher octane fuel in it.

You'll gain power out of it and not have pinging....win win. Or do like Malefic said and just buy an exhaust and intake for the car....

Why do you want to raise the compression anyway?

If you want big results, throw a cam in it and do some thinner head gaskets. Toss some headers on it after that and you'll have a pretty good ride and you can still get away with 89 octane.

the diffrence between 87 and 93 is around $1.50 a full tank. wanting to stick with 87 for money reasons is silly

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the title of this thread. There are definitely much better things you can do with your money. With it just being N/A there's only so much you can do w/o a top swap or turbo though...

Shave the heads. Did it in my Dodge Neon when I did a head gasket replacement. :D
