I know someone posted a thread somewhere asking about E3 plugs. Well don't use them. I have a 2004 GP GT N/A. No mods yet. I changed my plugs and wires about 6 months ago using autolite 7mm wires and E3 plugs (just to try them out). Well about 3 months ago I started to have random misfires while accelerating especially on the freeway. After testing my coils and ignition control module I decided to change the plugs...again. Well when I pulled them I noticed that all of them had a yellowish white coating.
----------------Taken from:http://kakimotodotcom.blogspot.com/2009/10/spark-plug-diagnosis-chart.html.--------------------
HIGH SPEED GLAZING
Symptoms: Insulator has yellowish, glazed appearance indicates that combustion chamber temperatures have risen suddenly during hard acceleration. Normal deposits melt to form a conductive coating Causes misfiring at high speeds.
Recommendations: Install new plugs. Consider using colder plug if driving habits warrant.

TOO HOT
Symptoms: Blistered, white insulator, eroded electrode and absence of deposits. Result in shortened plug life.
Recommendations: Check for the correct plug heat range, over advanced ignition timing, lean fuel mixture, intake manifold vacuum leaks, sticking valves and insufficient engine cooling.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It may have been a mix of these two causes. Well after replacing the plugs with autolite XP606 the car ran great. Just so you know the model of plug was E3.62 which is recommended by E3. These plugs may have there place, but it's not in my car!!

Interesting info.
I wonder how they'd work with the proper heat range?
It sounds like they work too well as spec'd.

"Hey dummy.
Did you ever think the ground electrode is so massive that the plug can't "wick away" the heat causing the glazing?"
That means the center electrode will be too cool if you cut back the heat range of the spark plug to compensate for the overheating ground electrode.
You KNOW what that means...fouled sparkers...you big ninny."

Sorry big guy,my bad.

They kick ass in my John Deere, haha. But interesting info indeed. I've heard a couple similar stories about other engines, so E3 won't be touching my cars... the lawn mower, well who cares about that anyway.

My friend told me that at the tech school he's going to they had a Neon SOHC motor that had E3 plugs in it, that 2 of the pistons had holes burnt into them right where the 'diamond' lined up with it. Whether it was the plugs or not I have no clue but his powertrain teacher said to go ahead and use them if you want to be forced to rebuild.

Sounds like cause and effect.
