I have a 2004 Pontiac grand prix.
I started smelling anti freeze and the over flow was bubbling over a bit although the car did not over heat i know there is a problem. I take it to the shop i they say a need a coolant flush, new radiator cap, and the coolant nipple is leaking.

My question is where is the coolant nipple located(i know its on the side of the motor where the belt is)but i can't see anything.does any one have a picture or part number to this nipple thing?

Sounds like you need the bleeder screw that's on top of the thermostat housing (follow the upper radiator hose to the engine, you'll see it ;-) )

It's available as DORMAN Part # 902112 from: http://www.rockauto.com or your local auto parts store.

For Rock Auto coupon codes: RetailMeNot.com

Here's a pic of the T-stat housing:

^^That's what I was thinking as well. Broken my share of those haha. The only thing on the belt side of the engine that could be a "nipple" would be the plastic elbows, but that's a stretch.

^ x2 on the bleeder screw. Might be worth checking the thermostat cover too if the screw is bad.

Haha, he said nipple

:P

Yeah, my guess would be the bleeder screw as well. And if its leaking it probably just needs to be tightened. This isn't always true, but I always assume shops sometimes just say things because they don't have a better explanation to a problem (which is why I do all my own work, except for that 1 month that I had a warranty haha).

Well then it must be the elbows. The only other coolant related thing on that side of the motor is the WP and coolant bypass bracket thing, neither of which have anything resembling a mammal's lactating features.

These bad boys...

And they're not hard to change; here's a write up: Main Drive Belt Tensioner Removal Procedure and Bypass Elbows '99-'03

'04+ up should be similar, hope that helps!

Hold the phone!!!!!!!! I found nipples!!!!!!!!!
Look at the tensioner bracket. There's black looking nipples coming out of it and going to the heater core hoses. You can see them in this pic.

And if you look at this picture, you can see it without the hose on it.

However, I've never heard of these leaking before.

That's the closest thing to nipples on the belt side though  If I remember correctly, I thought they were metal, or at least they were on the GF's 97.

I always did have trouble finding nipples
