I added seafoam after an oil change don't know why. Didn't notice any changes in my car except it being difficult to start the first time and I think performance was actually better then it is now. I became concerned when I read various threads saying to add seafoam before an oil change which the bottle does not say this. I drove 1,428 miles until I changed my oil again to remove the seafoam at 49,800. Now I have 50,986 miles. Maybe I didn't notice it before but now I hear a strange metal tapping sound by the wheel wells long with my lifters sounding louder then usual and other strange noises. A couple people on yahoo said I might have clogged a lifter with sludge. I'm concerned that with exceeding my oil level I may have caused damage to something to get that faint metal tapping sound. I noticed that my coolant recovery tank was close to empty when it kept making a gurgling sound. The engine was at full operating temperature. I checked it again this morning after it has been sitting all night and the recovery tank still has the same amount as yesterday and the radiator looks empty but my car never over heats. Dex-cool coolant is suppose to be good for 5 yrs or 100k miles. The cars only 4 yrs old. Should I be concerned with flushing the engine coolant and changing my spark plugs too. Someone told me not to use dex cool because its bad and that I may be letting air into my cooling system or worse a blown head gasket, they told my to switch to green stuff but what is that? I do a lot of driving and tend to be hard on my car as well. I am getting ready to go on a 6 hr road trip pretty soon is there anything I should check or have changed? I know I need a transmission flush, engine air filter, and supercharger oil change. I'm not due for another oil change until 52,800 and currently have 84% oil life remaining. Which brings me to another question, is it better to change full synthetic oil every 3,000 miles or go according to your oil life monitor?

You've got lots of questions, don't you?

You won't damage your engine's internals by overfilling the engine with oil [710 for you ingrates :pottytrain3: ].
You've probably removed the varnish that builds up on the parts and *may* have got some stuck in your lifter[s].
Don't sweat it.
Synth's are good at dissolving and suspending varnish and dirt that builds up in the oil.
Six hours on the highway will clear out any crud.

Your coolant should be flushed out and changed.
It's probably damaged by running too low-less of it doing more cooling.
When they flush it,have it checked for hydrocarbons.
Don't let them over pressure your system when they flush it.
You can blow seals,hoses,heater cores,etc.
It's a classic trick used by a lot of low life rad shops to generate business.
You can switch to peak Gold coolant.
The green stuff has Silicates in it that can chew up bearings in your bottom end,if it gets in there.

For the trans, drop the pan and do a filter, fluid change.
No real need for a flush.
They'll probably refill with Dexron VI.
Good stuff and better than Dexron IIIH.

The super charger oil is relatively easy.
There's a write up here:

The air filter is a no brainer.
I would clean the MAF and throttle body as well [if this hasn't been done in a while].

I would take it to the dealer and let them go at it,considering the amount of work you want done.
You may find their prices aren't bad either, considering the economy.

Your coolant recovery tank is really just an overflow. Coolant will not flow from the bottle back into the radiator if it's low. If you're very low on coolant, your coolant temp gauge won't read accurately because there's not enough coolant for it to read. You should refill your radiator (through the cap) ASAP, and either check or replace the cap while you're at it. After that, run the car with the heat on full and vent the system (8mm nut on top of the thermostat housing). Vent the system daily for about a week to make sure you've got all the air out of it, then refill if necessary.

Your coolant's going somewhere, and if you don't know where it's going then it could be getting into your oil. This will very quickly turn your engine into a paperweight. I'd recommend finding your coolant leak (rev the engine with the hood open, you may be able to see it spray out), and if you can't find it then take it to a shop. I'd also recommend changing your oil, then letting the old oil sit overnight in a glass container. If there's a lot of coolant in the oil, it'll settle to the top (although I don't know if a small amount of coolant will be visible).

Lastly, I recommend getting the noise checked out. It may be an expensive fix, but it won't get any cheaper if you wait until your engine fails completely.

Hope there are no major problems, and good luck.

These replies make me worried. The car is GM certified and when I bought it it only had 14k in Dec 07. I've put 46k miles on it with no problems at all. Im trying to take care of the car the best I can. Coolant in the oil should not happen. I rev the car with the hood open and Ive never seen anything spray out or notice any puddles other then water underneath. I bought coolant which was already mixed, refilled the radiator and recovery tank with the bleed valve open. Let the car run. Drove it then rechecked it. Other then coolant being sprayed underneath my car (because I spiled a little) I havent noticed any more leaks but my coolant recovery tank is not filled up to where I left it and theres a faint smell of coolant with the heat on inside the car until the car warms up. Is it still possible to bleed the system. The bleed valve lookes like it has a nut the screws into a bolt that screws into the thermostat housing. Well the nut broke thanks to someone. I lied Im going on a 12 hr trip and I 'm not trying to get stranded :(

A faint smell of coolant in the car?
Maybe the heater core is leaking?

where would it be leaking to because my recovery tank level keeps going down?
