Switching to a snthetic may cause some problems but it is a hit or miss kinda shot. You may or may not have problems theres just no way to tell. It really depends on what kind of maintenance the car has seen its history and what kind of oil it has used in its lifetime. Some things to consider how long have you owned the car yourself and what oils have you used yourself and what kind of previous owner was it before? Just give it some thought and think about its history and go from there.

Valvoline High mileage is good stuff. I used to run it in my 98. It is only semi-synthetic so not as likely to leak as full syn.

I'm running the valvoline synth blend in the red bottle now and I hate it. Power's down, mileage down, and burning oil like a diesel. I had used full-synth beforehand so idk if that's part of the problem, but I WILL be switching back very soon.

Full Synthetic FTW! I think I have either Pennzoil or Valvoline full synth in mine right now, and other than burning through half a quart after 1500 miles (which my car always does) it's been great. I might even wait until 5k to change mine; usually by now I'm feeling the power loss and thinking about changing it out.

Go full synthetic instead of half&half.

I usually just get whatever synthetic package deal they have at one of the local parts stores. Most I ever paid was for 5 quarts of Q Horsepower and a K&N filter for $30 and tax.

At one point they had a Royal Purple deal for $45, but my motor's not THAT nice. Maybe after the rebuild...

have you read the back of a royal purple bottle? Personally I never have but someone told me that the sunburst (or however they rate oil) says its only approved for 04 and later cars...all I know I don't have the $$$ to put that stuff in a stock motor and it will never touch my motor if that's true...if someone knows more correct me i m just going by what I was told
