How the heck do these things come out?!?!?!?! I was going to polish this puppy up but I can't figure out how to the bolts/grommet come off. Anyone has an idea how to do this? I'm guessing I'm missing something very simple.

I got them... finally. They do just pop out, but it took a pair of pliers and some muscle flexing to get them out. I was hoping there was an easy trick to it since I don't like using brute force to get things done, but I had to this time haha. I started polishing it up and it's coming out quite nicely so far.

That's what you need me for.

"Oh they aren't coming out? Let me see it."

And of course after I break something we'd figure it out.

Why do you have 3400 VC's anyhow? Jeremy?

Haha, yeah that's usually how it goes down. And yeah, for Jeremy. His is cracked, somehow, so I picked him up another one but I'm running out of projects in my apartment so I decided to start polishing the VC

I think it just needs some time with some simple green and a toothbrush.

Come help me clean up the 350 in my 73. I never was good at making it look good under the hood. At some point though that motor is coming out, getting cleaned up and repainted. Two things are going to have to happen for that to happen though. I need another car and I need extra money to buy (or rent) an engine hoist. And a place to keep the 73 while the motor is out.

To the cracked some how. Lets just say that I finally found a substance that jb weld fails at. AKA pot aluminium. You can't weld to it, jb weld doesn't stick, and tap and die is a fail since its so weak. needless to say, that was the weak link on the turbo build, and its time to just replace the whole damn thing. Plus while i was going for a nice dark blue scheme for the cool side piping and red for the hot piping of the turbo, I decided to do the valve covers blue, turns out that this blue was not the color i wanted at all and i hate having a damn cracked blue valve cover that looks like shit. I have decided that its all going to be polished after this summer. valve covers and intake manifold. Unless i make enough money to do my ultimate project which is l67 swap.

IMO, save your money and turbo a L36. It's a better platform to work with and you'll make more power.

well maybe i should just stick to the turbo on the 3.4 untill i blow i up. From what i reseached the 3.4 holds up nicely with a turbo compared to the 3.8. and idk if i could go through all that pipe work again.

Jeremy the 3.4 can definitely handle some boost. I wouldn't say it does so better than the 3.8 though. And the nice thing about the 3.8 is that you don't need to custom fab a bunch of stuff, just buy someone's used parts :D

Be glad I'm not in this quaker-lube meeting because Talladega is more important to me. You are lucky to not get beaten by me.
