all i do know. i have had drop in K&N panel filters on both my GP's. one being a 3.1 liter and now with the 3.8 and there the same filter. just looked it up to confirm. same model filter. so im guessing stock boxes are the same, or very close.

On a 3100 SFI, the lid. 3100 and 3800 boxes are not the same. The filters are the same, but the box itself is not. The way the intake connects to the box is different.

So would that mean that the K&N CAI kit for the 3800 would not work on the 3100?

I dont think it would be a direct but it could probably be done with a little custom work. Also there are better alternatives to the k&n, i would suggest just making your own or buying a true CAI from one of the vendors as the K&n is really a HAI

The Milzy one loks like a FWI. That would be a good option because it is made specifically for the 3100 but you could try contacting zzp to see if the wizair fits the 3100 because on their website it says it fits all 97-03 gps. Instal shouldent take to long, my k&n took about 2 hours to get in and i hear its one of the hardest ones so shouldent be too long.

The 97-03 GPs with the 3100 had the same airbox as the 3800. The previous generation 3100/3.1 powered cars do NOT.
