Here they are... dam they are rusty!!

Image

So I had to do something about it.. so I tested how CLR would work on a rear rotor I'm not using and it came out great!!!!

Image

So I did the same with the front rotors and here are the results! Really big difference!

Image

Getting prepared...and yes I'm using Stainless steel brake lines from ZZP

Image

Here is what's been done so far. Just the passenger side, the driver side's stock brake line is hard to remove so I used some WD40 and I'm letting it sit over night and see about tomorrow.

Looks like the CLR did a nice job. Why are the bottles sitting in the container with the rotor? lol

The container I was using to de rust the rotor was too big and I didn't want to get more. So I just filled the CLR jugs up with water and used them to raise the CLR liquid higher.

Just curious why people are using these over the F-body? I'm guessing the only benefit is not having the tap the brackets because the caliper itself looks identical

*edit* not knocking it, think it looks awesome. Just wondering is all

Seems feasible that you could use 13" GXP rotors on a F-body setup, am I correct?

No, the Fbody brakes are 12" rotors and the brackets are made for 12" rotors

Looks good btw, still gathering parts to swap mine

Are GXP brakes and rotors a direct bolt on?

Yup, but not the rear. I'll need the GXP rear hub to swap it. I have the rear brakes too, but it's just too much money and time I don't have now to bother with.

Came out GREAT! I test drive it and it was amazing the difference between the GXP and the old stock ones I had. I also drive it today with my brother in the back seat and told him to hang on out of no where. I slammed the brakes and he practically flew out of the seat... he wasn't wearing his seat belt either! LOL

Image

also installed these to make a huge difference too

Image

I also had time to help my brother out and install his new HIDS and take pictures of both our autos

he should join up, other vehicle section needs more trucks!

you get the other side off? probably so since the last pics

put you should think about at least spraying the rotors hat with a high temp paint or clear
since the hat is one of the first places to star rusting

i can remember if i told you they look sexy or not

He's not much of a forum member really. His isn't all the talkative on his forum... called "Serious Explorations" (Ford Explorer forum)

I'm going to leave the rotors unpainted cuz I really had to hurry up with the install since today I could have worked... but couldn't cuz my car was down. If I do see some rust coming up again I'm surely going to paint it.

dude next time i rip my seats i'll buy some black leather and suede. well enough black to help you out some. i hand stitched my drivers seat and it took me a while. that leather is tough to get through with a regular flat needle.

Looks good, that was a for sure future mod before I sold my GP. I'd say find some carbon fiber looking inserts (leather) for your seats, that would be sick.
