I'm sure someone already asked this but could not find it. I was driving the other day and it was frogie as hell, I have kinda white lights on my headlights and fog lights but could not see worth a crap so i ended driving 30 mphs all the way home for 3 hours!!!

I was wandering if getting yellow lights for fogs would work? But the thing I don't know what to do are my headlights. What kind of color light will help me see in wet/snow covered roads?

Yellow is the best for fog/precipitation, unfortunately, the stock fog light housings really aren't all that good at light output in the first place, so putting yellow bulbs in them will only net you so much additional light gain in those sort of conditions. Blue is the worst (technically purple and pink are the worst, but those are only used by people who don't like to see at night anyway  ), while white being the next bast after yellow.

Some countries even require that vehicles have yellow bulbs or lenses for foglights (France most notably).

I don't drive in fog much (seen it once in the 15 years I've been in Vegas), but it's nasty stuff. There's no light that will penetrate much. 30MPH is probably the fastest you should be going with the best light, and even that might be too fast. You've got to remember that even with great lights you're only going to see in a cone, with no visibility to the sides. I'm assuming the stock fog lights don't help? Remember to not use high beams in fog, it'll just make things worse, even with fog lights.

Ya the stock fogs aren't really that good I'm thinking about getting a pair of driving lghts to put on for now( Have them on an expedition they actually work well for me they work ) till I decide what to do still planning to do a retrofit for both headlight and fog but waiting till summer. Rethinking that even, got the car back from the shop a couple of weeks ago and a bunch of service lights started to come up been back to the shop two or three times now cause of it. Havn't driven the car in almost a week cause of it.

Don't know why but its been a really foggie winter for some reason.

I always was under the impression that driving lights suck for fog. White light reflects off of the clouds/fog; the brighter the light the worse it gets, and driving lights are very bright and very white.

:agree: If it's foggy and I'm driving around home (the boonies), I'd turn off my main dip beams and just use my parking lights and fogs. It's a lot easier to see the white lines on the road since my fogs are essentially below the fog line. I wouldn't recommend doing that on major frequently traveled roads. I'm sure that's highly illegal. At least in Minnesota it is.. But in regards to color of the fogs, yellow is the best. White is second best, then any other color is 3rd best.
