Applied collonite wax a few weeks ago. Decided I would attempt to add yet another layer of something to protect the collonite. I went with Meguiers Deep crystal wax. After that, a few hours later I applied NXT (not 2.0) in spray form with a foam applicator. Then after that I sealed it all up with Meguiers Quick detail spray (black spray bottle). I do not see any harm in doing this but maybe some wax experts here could enlighten me and spread horrible news that I did something wrong ;-) The surface is very smooth, much like results that I use to get from Zaino and I'm hoping they will hold up, but what do you guys think? Thanks.

like said above you can get a build up of wax which actually make the paint look like it is hazey....collonite is a good wax that last a long time so it shouldnt need a lot of help....the megiuars you used will last about a 1-2 months max so its not really helping a lot...the detail spray does not add any kind of protection.....it is only supposed to add shine......you would would have been better off doing a second layer of collonite and calling it a day

the megs 2.0 is a good wax but it doesnt last nearly as long as the collinite. in the summer i get about 4-5 weeks of durability with the nxt. collinite i get about 3 months. if you wanted to layer, it might have been better for the nxt then top it off with collinite. i put 2 coats of collinite on my car last week. this came 3 weeks after i detailed it. collinite has a nice shine and should get me through to about end of February in the North winters. it has a nice natural shine where the nxt i think gives a more wet look.

I see you didn't read this thread:

detailing-f47/winter-waxing-t26235.html

You've gotta be nuts to put that NXT on anything,IMO.
It hazes real nicely.
Stick with one good brand of wax and be done with it.

I'll keep this in mind, thanks for the link! Hopefully this christmas I can land myself a porter cable along with a Paint thickness gauge. Tired of this "all by hand' crap.

if you are working with a PC you really dont need to have a paint thickness gauge.....only really need that when you are wet sanding or using a rotary
