Hey guys- I have had my VVME HID's for like 6 or 7 months now. Just recently in the past two weeks I have had where one does not turn on. I would test by swapping sides, but the problem is that it varies from side to side. I emailed VVME just a little while ago, but I was wondering if anyone has had this issue and how is VVME as far as support goes. Thanks in advance!

Jeff

support sucks
in buyer seller feedback you can read all of the emails they sent me.

it's easier to buy new stuff than deal with them
or hit up tim on here he offers a lifetime warranty on his but it costs more
and then there's hid gate

also i have had a problem w/ my ballasts grounding out, try wrapping the ballast w/ electrical tape to make "feet" so the ballast is isolated from any metal. because only my passenger fog shorts in and out.

is it a relay system or plug and play

Plug and play. I just flick the headlights off and back on and then they both come on.

I have the same problem, when it's dark out ....

I have a hard time believing nobody else is experiencing this issue.

The only way I can avoid the issue, is to turn my parking lights on piror to turning the car on and then turn the lights on.

I may have a solution (thanks to backinblack) it appears we need to install a delay timer in HID power supply line.

Here's a link

I have not had a chance to get to this yet, maybe over the winter.

Yeah, I could see that being the case. The weird thing though is that the problem just started a week or so ago. I have had them installed for like 6 or 7 months though.. Very weird.

This is all I got... :-(

Dear customer,
Thanks for your letter. I am sorry to hear that there is some problem about your kits now.

First of all, we need to find out what made this happen.

Hope the below tips can help you.

Please inspect all connections between the bulb, ballast and igniter.

Inspect the fuse. Use at least 25Amp fuse if both lights share the same fuse; Use at least 15 Amp fuse for each light if lights use separate fuses.

Switch the failing bulb module to the woking one to see if the problem remains. If the failing light now works, the bulb may be failed. If the problem sitll persists, the ballast or igniter may be malfunctioned. Determine if additional high-power relay wirings are required to provide sufficient power to the HID system.

To check the balllast and igniter, switch it to the working side of the vehicle. If the problem still persists, the ballast or igniter is malfunctioned. If HID system works properly, your vehicle connections, battery, alternator, etc. may have problems.
Any information, feel free to let us know.

Best Regards.

it's better than the one they sent to me: we're sorry but you'll need to send your ballast to china so we can benchtest it. but you'll have to pay the shipping both ways

I think I will just live with having to flick the lights off and then back on instead of dealing with these jokers. Only problem is that sometimes you can't tell if they are both on or not and I feel like an idiot when I know only one has been on for a little while.. lol

from now on start up your car with running lights. then flick back to auto and they will work everytime. vvme bal. need more then normal power to ignite and our cars dont push the kind of power needed when the car is turning over. if they always worked before it could be that your bat is getting worse

True..shouldn't be the battery I don't think. I have an Optima Red top in there that I bought in December of 07. Could be slowly going out though I suppose. I'll try and remember to start doing that though.

I'd just buck up and spend the 69 bucks for HIDGATEs.

I'm not aware of the HIDGATES, do you have a link to this?

There you go. Looks like they actually went down a little in price. They're great to buy from, you should check them out.

I would recommend you run a relay harness on your next set to save you the hassle of flickering lights.

I ended up getting a harness from ZZP and it works great, the light output is so much better! I was getting Stainless steel brakes lines and just decided to buy it.

I'm using the upgraded relay harness and an additional grounding wire and the lights still don't fire up during startup when its dark out. Even the stock headlights turn off while the car is in the "starting cycle"

My VVME's do the same thing now. It's no biggie to me though, I just flick them off then on.

For all who are having problems, use a capacitor wired in parallel with the trigger (headlamp feed) on your relay harness. This will eliminate all problems (unless a ballast/bulb is defective, then it won't help)...the problem is that VVME ballasts along with some other kits use "lower quality" ballasts that are more sensitive to voltage fluctuations, that's where the capcitor will help in conjunction with the relay harness. Some HID kits come with higher quality ballasts which are not as sensitive and will tolerate lower voltage and still ignite the bulbs fine.

I've been using VVME standard 35W ballasts with 6K VVME bulbs in Lo/Fogs for over two months now in my 2008 with DRL on Lo's and the steering stalk switch on Auto to keep stock functionnality (using light sensor) and the lights have fired up 100% everytime, NEVER they did once mis-fire or flicker, both Lo's and Fogs. Using my car starter to start the car and the lights come on, no problems.....Unlocking the doors turns the headlights on, sit in car and turn on car before the lights go off or even after they go off, no problems....Doors are already unlocked and I get in car and start it up, no problems.... Tons of people use this fix for other makes/models of slower cars (hehe) and I never saw anyone on the boards here and other GP boards I visit use this simple fix. I've mentionned this fix in many threads but it seems it always falls to blind eye's. For and extra dollar and extra safety, you can also add a diode inline with the positive on the capacitor so that when the capacitor empties its charge, it cannot spike back up into your trigger wire.

Its simple, the capacitor will keep the relay coil on the relay harness fully latched during any voltage fluctuations from the headlamp trigger while starting car, etc... and this keeps the power feed from the battery to the ballast open.
