I bought a factory 6 disc off of ebay, and it says its locked and won't let me do anything. I tried the conventional press 2&3/ AM-FM way, but nothing happened when I tried 1&2...

Anybody know how do unlock the 04+ radios?

I think you have to take it to a dealer and have a Tech2 unlock it.

That sucks, the guy I bought it from on Ebay said it was unlocked... Guess I'm gonna have to dispute it now for the cost of GM unlocking it...

Try this if it works PM me the numbers & I will get the code for you.. ( I can do this right away for you )

You can post the numbers too..

GM DELCO THEFTLOCK RADIO UNLOCK CODE:
1. Press and hold presets 2 and 3 for about 5 to 10 seconds until you
get 3 digits on your display. This is the first 3 of 6 digits you will
need, so write 'em down.
2. After doing step one and writing down the code, immediately press
the
AM/FM button to get the last 3 of the 6 numbers you'll need, and write
'em down. (if you wait too long between steps 1 and 2 and the LOC code
displays again, just start over).
3. Call this number, it's a prerecorded message, so don't worry about
having to talk to anyone...1-800-537-5140. The voice will ask if
you're
calling for Chevy, Pontiac, Cadillac, etc... When you here him tell
you
to press "2" for Pontiac, ( PM me the numbers ) and hit the * key. He'll ask
you
for the 6 digit code that you've written down. Enter that and press
the
* key. He will then give you a code, and the option to get additional
4
digit codes, but one should be sufficient.
4. Follow the normal procedure in your owners manual for unlocking the
radio with your new code...press the hour set button on your radio
until
you get the first two numbers of the code, then press the minute set
button until you've entered the last two numbers. Immediately press
the
AM/FM button once the correct code is entered and the code SEC or
"secured" will be displayed on the display screen. Now, just turn the
radio on, and your ready to roll.
There is an additional step you can take to remove all codes from the
radio and start from scratch by entering your own personalized 4 digit
code so that it won't get you in a pickle again! Just repeat step 4
and
you should get a display screen that reads ---. This means the code is
out, and you can now program your own code. Of course, once you
receive
the 4 digit code from the GM recorded message, just keep it in a safe
place, because you can use that same code again and again should you
have any more problems with it in the future. Good luck, and yes, it
does work.

These things must be unlocked by a tech 2 as the old method does not apply, took like 50 seconds when i watched the guy do it. the rpo code for the six disc is UC6 i beleave, he had to choose this from the different choices in the radio setup menu.
When I converted to the whole monsoon setup I bought a six disc, hopeful to come by a factory navigation one someday.

You can get your radio into diagnostic mode by holding in power and upseek, then pressing 5 while you are holding these down, it will of course lock back up whenever you start your car.

I gave my local dealer a visit and they told me it would be about $60 because it would take about an hour to do, so I asked if they could program the correct mileage on my DIC while they were working with my dash electronics, and they said they didn't know if they could because they thought the 5 button was different and didn't think it would work... :/

This is the only Pontiac dealer around..

It takes 5 minutes if you include having to take out the tool and plug into your car once plugged in it took 40-50 seconds, The guy I went to used to work at a dealer and now owns a AC Delco shop and had a tech 2, charged me 30 dollars where the dealers wanted between 50 and 80 i see 30 resonable even for the little time it took since it is a 3-4 thousand dollar tool he has to make back. I would say stop by again and say that youll pay for half hour only and that its only a five minute procedure and if they refuse look elsewhere, no chevrolet or buick dealers or anything around? they would all be the same and if not ask around small repair shops if they know anyone with a tech2, thats how I found out about this guy.

With my mileage I just marked the difference in my owners manual, and you could just explain to the next owners if any the reason for the difference.

Ill shop around and see what the other dealers around want. I see $30 to be reasonable as well. This dealer is usually the only one I deal with.

I'm not worried about the dic, I took pics of the mileage of the old one right before I took it out, and the new one right after I put it in.

It only takes a few seconds to unlock it with a Tech 2 scanner. The reason why the dealer says it's gonna take an hour is that they're gonna charge you an hour's worth of labor for 40-50 seconds of actual work.

As far as I know all 6 discs are set up for monsoon? But it is plug and play with non-monsoon stereos.

Could be, you can easily check by putting your radio into diagnostic mode by pressing power, seekup, and 5. If your radio comes on and shuts right off you will have to open up the sp205 splice pack (under dash near obd connector) and remove the metal jumper that connects between the terminals. then try the key presses again and it shopuld stay on so you can test it.
