I know I shouldn't even be doing this with all things I still have to do to my car, I was looking at a set of wheels for sale from a 2011 mustang they are 18 x 8 I believe and they are sttock rims. The question I have is what are the tires sizes I can put in without probloms. I do usually have the car full of people when I use it so I'm looking at tires that will give the ride comfort and won't damage the rims when hitting some potholes  ;-)

x2. This will keep overall tire diameter the same so your speedo isn't off.

225/50/18... if you go 245/45/18, your sidewall will rub your fender anytime you hit a bump with people in the back seat. Unless of course you get your fenders rolled.

^^^That depends on the offset. If the wheels are a higher positive offset they will clear the fenders.

and if you lowered your car or not. 245/45/18 is the stock tire size on the GXP I believe

255/45/18 were stock fronts, 225/50/18 were the rears on GXP's. But yes, if you're lowered or not will also matter.

Here are the specs for the rims i'm looking at

Size: 18x8 Centercap Size: Large (2-1/2")
Back Spacing: 6.2" (159mm) Offset: +44mm (1.7")
Bolt Pattern: 5x4.5" (5x114.3mm)

When I bought the car the tire sizes where 235/55/17 back 225/55/17 front

so if i where to buy the rims i probably should just get 225/50/18?

no the car is not lowered nor are the fenders been rolled

but aren't comp g lowered a bit than other trims of gp?

If you're not lowered and with an offset that high I'd be going with 245/45 or at least a 235/50. IMO there's no need to run a 225 on an 8 inch wide wheel with those specs and not being lowered.

oh kk I'll definitly keep that in mind,

I read somewhere and I think its even the same kind of mustang rims i plan on putting on, that inorder to get it to clear the rear wheel area the brake brackets maybe? had to be sanded down a bit to fit the rims.

It shouldn't if your on stock ride height..hell im lowered on those tire size and fronts don't rub..if anything the rears can sometimes rub..could be possible your struts are shot causing the ride height to be lower then stock?

If you're rubbing with stock sizes tires/wheels and stock ride height there is a huge problem going on OR more likely, you are seeing "rubbing" that isn't really even happening.

I hope the rubbing is not from my current tires, I think they were from the previous onwer?? But i think the previous owner was running 255's i guessing thats where the rubbing problem came from

Even with 255's on stock ride height shouldn't cause rubbing. That's what the GXP's run stock up front.
