Alright guys well some of you may have known I have been battling with the dealership over warranty repairs lately. Them not wanting to touch the wheel bearings even though i was sure that was the issue. Well i went to go trouble shoot the problem with the technician today and we came to an interesting conclusion, after a rather comical test. He wanted to hear the problem up close so he opened the trunk lid and sat in the trunk to listen while i drove the car around the lot to see if he could tack down the exact origin of the thunking coming from my rear end. Well we found that his added 150 pounds all but stopped the sound. So we examined the tire and found a huge flat spot on my back driver side tire. He then rotated it to the front and now no sound, only the occasional odd thunk from the front now. So as near as we can tell my Tire had a defect that caused it to some how prematurely wear a flat spot on the tire. I am going to discount tire on Thursday to see if I cant get them to replace it for free for me because it is obviously a factory defect since the tire is only 2 months old and the tire on the other side is perfectly fine. Has any one else ever heard of this happening to new tires? They are dunlop Direzza's
Cliff notes: My car was making odd clunking noises from the rear I took to dealership and after lots of trouble we found the issue was a flat spot on the tire. The tire is only 2 months old and shouldn't have that problem So i am going to go talk to discount tire Thursday to see about a replacement.
