I'll have everything but the [D2S] bulbs, ballasts, and CCFL halos (don't know the size yet - not sure if I want them either) on Thursday.

Since the D2S Minis are already proven, I am not too worried about any light connections or output.

What I'm "worried" about is getting those headlights open and shoe-horning those Minis in there.

Thursday is D-Day. Image

-- Wed Oct 20, 2010 1:18 am --

For those wondering about the damage so far:

  • Spyder Projector Headlights: $240.00 shipped
  • Morimoto Mini (D2S) Projectors: $128.00 shipped
  • Two (2) DDM Tuning HID kits (total of 4 slim ballasts): $98.12 shipped
    * 2 for the headlights - 35W, D2S, 4500K: $50.00
    * 2 for the fogs - 35W, H11 (GXP), 4500K: $35.00
    * Combined shipping: $13.12 - Single kit shipping: $11.65

[My] Subtotal: $466.12

Things I may/will need:

  • 3M Window-Weld Ribbon Sealer: ~$15.00
  • Dremel: ~$20.00 (returnable)
  • Clear epoxy/GE Silicone II (for the halos): ~$10.00

EDIT: Late night typos.

The only reason I want to open the new projectors is to do exactly that :-(

It would be sweet to have them dual leds so they are blue all the time then yellow during the turnsignal. Did you get it open without any damage?

i knowww!! like switchbacks. but they dont come in 194's that i can find.. damn
but relatively no damage, besides stretching the edges of the black part, and the previous damage i had. nothing too bad, it should all be fine once i put the seal on
but thats after the new projectors and stuff.. oh and gotta get all the old seal of the lens, it doesnt melt so im just gunna sit here with a razor and cut it all off

i havent touched them in a while. but i think im going to ditch trying to use the screws on the housings to adjust them. im gunna hav to figure out another way to attach them. i ended up pulling them out and i think im going to attach screws on the projector and drill a hole in the housing and use washers and nuts to secure it. dont know how well it would work tho

your basically where I was at with the first projector retrofit...no adjustability basically.

There is a cool way to adjust using a spring and screw...RoadRash knows what I'm talking about....cause someone else with a grand prix did it, but my PM box was full and I had to delete stuff.

i said that because i was being a b*tch trying not to damage them the first time
after i got them apart i just took a razor and got it all off. PITA but it works

Do you think it would be a good idea to just use a dremel with a cutting wheel to cut them apart, then silicon or plastic weld them back together later? this is kind of my last resort, but i think im going to try it. Also, for anyone that wants to change the color of the halos, all you have to do is cut a little rectangle right under where the halo is, pull out the led board, and rig in some LED's of your choice.

throw them in the oven. they should come apart with a little encouragement. cutting them would be a very last resort because there wouldnt be a whole lot to grab and hold the two halves together

lol. yeah that wouldnt go over too well.. itll start to smell like plastic tho. i think the heat gun will be too much of a pain
do the oven if you get a chance, the glue is a PITA to get off the clear plastic but not too hard to get off the black part so that should make it somewhat easier.
