At the local junk yard I was searching for a 21" dipstick that was about 6 years old ;-) when I cam across a set of the old gold 'cross laced' (I think is what people call them) rims. Will those fit on an 04 Comp G? With the smaller size i'm hoping winter tires for them would be cheaper. Also I think they'd look pretty good on the red car.

Yeah they will fit. Tires will not necessarily be cheaper though.

That has to be some tight clearence between the wheel and the brake caliper. Change red to blue or black and we have a deal.

I think the red is throwing it off, if you did black, silver,or gray - The gold color would match much better. Other then that I like the Idea.

I really like the looks of that. Too bad the yard only has 2 of the rims. I'll see what they want for them, the right price and there going on the car!

It looks like early comp G badging on the sides with special edition scoops. I just noticed the rims aren't all the same directionality.

It's a comp-G, I checked the VIN. It was also hit twice in the front which is why I think it has the SE hood on it. As for the missing tailpipes; I couldn't tell ya.

those are the 97-98 wheels and will not fit 12" brakes that the newer GP have

the ones on the blue car are the 16X8 wheels and they will fit 12" brakes

Black GTP explained it. The gold cross lace wheels from the 97-98's were 15 inch which will not clear the brake caliper on the 04+'s but the previous gen of GP 96- also have cross lace (some in gold) which were 16 inch and would fit on the 04+'s however, the 96- cross wheels weren't directional looking like the ones in the picture.

Yesterday afternoon, I was stopping red light. I pull over next by lady's car. The black lady own 2001 to 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix SE model which she has same color as mine. She has that gold crosslace wheel. I just like ewww. Galaxy silver car with gold wheel? She look at mine and look speechless. I guess she want my Bonneville GXP wheel.

Her car is very clean. Gold wheel is very shiny clean. Very impressed on her good work but it is still not match the color of silver body and gold wheel.

So I ask again how are they on the car then? cause as you pointed out the only wheels like those that would fit are 96s however you also say 96s arnt directional so how the heck then are there directional crosslaced wheels on it if they "wont fit"?

I'm not sure. The only thing I can come up with is that they are painted gold since the 97-03 gens did come with 16 inch silver crosslace wheels. And the posted pictures are the style of the 97-03's not the 96- gen.

if you look at the design of the 2 styles the pre 97 are flat and the 97-98 are curved in, that part that curves in hits the caliper. I think on clubgp is info on them not fitting

as far as them n the pic not sure how they got them to work unless they switched the brakes it looks like a body shop or yard were the pic was takin

Oh and for correction both styles are 16" pre 97 are 16X8 and the 97-98 are 16X6.5 I believe
