I haven't gone to diagnose the problem yet (I might tomorrow if I have the time), but I've noticed a hissing noise near the air intake in the past few days, and it's not simple enough to isolate the hissing on a whim.

Opinions before I go look?

Possibly an air intake leak? I would double check seals. If not the intake a possible leak in exhaust on crossover near it?

Could be a leaky EGR pipe too.

You can check for intake leaks with a can of starter fluid, but I would only do this if the engine is cold because there is a chance of fire if you spray it on a hot exhaust system.

Interesting idea.
