Well soon to be fake slp hood picking up a hood locally for 50 in mint shape. Best part is i work at a body shop so this will actually happen, so ill do one since everyone had talked about making one. Ill keep this tread updated as i complete it.. and ill probably wrap it in that embossed carbon wrap an maybe clear it to pop!

So many people have promised this, and we have yet to see one. It's really not that difficult to do (in theory), measure measure measure, cut, fold, prep, paint. I'll be on the hunt for a spare hood in spring...perhaps I'll attempt this as well. Shouldn't be too hard. Flip does autobody, and he has the SLP hood...maybe he'll be able to throw in a couple of pointers, and a few detailed photos.

I hope to see this done. I've hated how others would hype up building one so bad..and then just disappear from the site or keep the thread outdated. I gave up on someone besides Todd making one but would LOVE to see this happen finally.

I was semi-excited when I read the title, with anticipation of a new hood...

Then the thread kinda let me down... I'd still like to see how this turns out. Make sure to post pics along the way.

I will help with whatever you need.. if you dont do this then Im going too..lol You have until MAR 12 after that its.." GAME ON!!!"

Next year for me is hood projects.. GTO, G8, and SLP on the 04+ cars..plus finsh my headlights and maybe do a few more cool projects..( < keeping them to myself so people dont make them before I do..) After the new year I will start on a few of them.

Well ill definitely be doing it.! I picked it up yesterday and is on my car right now. Silver on black is too horrid maybe use some two tone once its done. But I plan to cut in it some time this week.

Flip. You have a original right.? I need some underside shots an a couple bigger clear shots. You can pm me them if you don't want them floating around.

-- Mon Dec 12, 2011 11:35 am --

Also I have a damaged srt8 charger hood I could maybe transplant too? I'd rather have the slp look tho.. just a though for a future hood.

There's something about that silver hood on the black car that looks pretty cool.

butter knife.

But no... a careful hand and a straight angle cutoff wheel... Gotta pick some 1/8 or 1/4 bar/tubing but not tubing lol to go around the arch for support

Ha. I was just going to suggest an air saw if you have one. In my experience they make much cleaner cuts on long flat panels and are a must have for clean corners. I don't know what kind of experience you have, just my two cents.

I have a body saw to do the corners.. ill use the cutoff till about a 1/4 inch to the corner and finish the corners with the saw.

The plasma cutter will blow right through the other side of the hood so im passing on that lolol
