Ok so if you have a problem with abs and traction light on we already know it is most likely a problem with a hub or wire chafed. I have found on my passenger side that part of the wire inside the casing actually oxidized and turned to a red powder.
I cut the shield off the cable about 2 feet. about 1 foot away from the connector there was a soft section in the wire. I cut into it and found that about an inch of wife turned to powder. The rest of the wire was fine. There was no chafing on the wires whatsoever. I cut it out and soldered in a new section of wire and all is fine.
And all you need to test this is a handheld multimeter and basic hand tools if you don't feel like spending 80 bucks at the local shop.
I'll give more info if anyone requests it.

Wow, that's odd. There were no visible crakcs or tears in the insulation?

So where exactly is the soft/bad spot in the wire that you found? I suspect it may be a common wear point... I have this problem, I figured I just have a bad bearing... I checked all my pig tails and there is no oxidization... but I dabbed some dialectric grease on them just in case...

I take it you are referring to your front passenger??

I need to know what to do. I'm having the same problem, changed both hubs and the lights are still on. I went to the brake shop and they said it was probably a bad connection or wire. I want to check it out tomarrow or Friday because I'm hoping to sell it Sat.

From the connector on the wheel hub about a foot down the wire is where I found the bad spot. You won't be able to see or feel it until you strip off the shield protecting the wire. There was no wear mark on the cable itself.

I had also tried the dielectric grease before but did not make the light go off.

I also changed out both front hubs before discovering this.

Procedure
1. Put car on jack stands and remove tire.
2. Disconnect cable from hub.
3. Remove cable from the holders that attach to the frame. I used a screwdriver to carefully pry them open and was able to reuse them.
4. If you do not know which wire is bad follow these steps. If you know skip to step 5.
A. Pull cable as close ad you can to the abs control module (where all the wires go from the hubs.)
B. Remove the harness from the abs control mod.
C. Remove the back cover from the connector.
D. Check the connector where the abs sensor plugs into the wire to verify the wire color.
E. Use a multimeter to ring out one wire at a time. Connect one lead of the multimeter to the wire at the pigtail connector where the hub plugs in. Connect the other lead at the harness.
F. If it does not ring. There is an open wire somewhere on that wire.
G. Or go to the local shop and they can do this for about 80 bucks. At least that's what they wanted to charge me.
5. Remove shield from suspected wire. Locate soft are or cut in wire.
6. Cut out bad area and either solder in a section of wire or replace wire. Use best shrink to protect cable or at least electrical tape.
7. Plug harness back in to abs unit. Plug in connector for hub.
8. Turn car on to verify abs light goes off.
9. Put eveything back together and enjoy.

I fixed mine today. I had it easy though, I just needed dielectric grease in the connector

Nice write up Roddy... I will have a closer look at mine on my next day off...
