Kind of an odd question, but i'm a noob to some mechanics one of them being ignition, would another generation of grand prix or another vechile in generals ignition link up to an 04+ grand prix and work? (meaning the bit where i put the key in to start it cause i'm not sure if thats the correct term ) Found a great deal on c-list for an 04 grand prix, but i cannot consciously buy a non-runniing car. Thanks for the helps guys

As long as it's from an 04-08 grand prix the key cylinder itself will work.

The actual ignition switch from 00-05 impala, alero, grand am should work in the 04 to 08 grand prix since the security related parts are in the key cylinder itself.

If you change the key cylinder you will have to to a security relarn as well.
