Did you use new rocker bolts and did you torque them down properly?? Remove the valve covers and make sure none of the bolts came loose.

yeah i used the arp reusable bolts from zzp. and the procedure said torque to 11 ftlbs and then torque in a 90 degree angle not sure what that means just talked to an auto friend and he said i must not have checked for proper valve lash and torque need to take the covers off and look proper procedure on alldata and get it done right.

There is no need to check for valve lash on our engines, just torque them down properly.

What it sounds like they're saying is they want you to tighten the bolts to 11 ft/lbs. and then tighten the bolts an additional 90 degrees of wrench rotation [1/4 turn].

I thought it was 25 ft/lbs... Well that's what's recommended for the Yella terra rockers. Hope you also used thread locker too.

If you used Reusables its suppose to be 25 ft/lbs and thats it. Like every one else is saying, I hope you used thread locker.

If a rocker came loose, you might have bent a push round or ruined a roller and from the sounds of it, it sounds like you did that. I would pull it all back apart and start trying to look for the anything unusual.

Isn't that for torque to yield stretch bolts?

Ya... Check all the lifters, rods, etc. My first attempt to install my rocker I screw all my lifters... It set me back $200 for the set from ZZP. BUT hopefully nothing really bad happened.

Nope.
It's just a different and more accurate method for torquing fasteners.
You DO NEED to use the method they prescribe.

That is for torque to yield bolts (stock)
The method they prescribe for the comp bolts like were used in this install is 25 ft lbs

I'm not sure what you're getting at.
Please clarify.

I don't know about everyone else, but I torqued all of mine on TDC. Took some extra time but I wanted to be sure I did it right.

It has been so long that I honestly can't remember what I used on mine. LOL, sort of makes me wonder what the hell I used.

I'm not sure what is more of a win.... that you have GPONA open with Vic sig showing, or that you have threadlocker in your room.

This is straight from ZZP's site.
Quote:
Comp cams 5/16" rocker bolts are an alternative to the torque to yield factory rocker arm bolts. They are simply the best bolt available and sold from a company you trust. Torque to 23 ft/lbs

If they are not reusable bolts then you have to use the 11 ftlbs + 90 degree.

I will post the write up again as it is a good reference to double check your work.
