anyone hear of any good deals yet? I expect that since its public now that many of the dealerships will be lowering prices. We should have a thread specifically for extreme deals on pontiacs.

im just concerned that now Pontiac parts are either going to be sold at ridiculously low prices so dealers/parts manufacturers can clean out their inventory or the parts are going to start going up in price do to the difficulty in acquiring parts for vehicles that are no longer being produced

A lot of the parts that aren't customer-facing are just from the "GM parts bin" and are used among other vehicles. I don't see any deep discounts coming.

^ me either I doubt they'll go down in price. maybe just a little rlly most parts are used on other gm cars so there wont a difference.

If anything, they'll have to make parts until the last Pontiac vehicle warranty is up. So you've got until then at least.

I probably won't even consider looking at buying a Pontiac now that the scrapping of the brand was confirmed this morning. After the news broke last week about it being phased out, I kinda feel disappointed that I'm driving a car brand that's going to join the ranks of Oldsmobile.

I used have 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Oldsmobile was out of business like 3 years. I still have no problem to get my parts. All I have to go Chevy dealership to get Olds parts. I'm pretty sure you will go to Chevy dealership to get Pontiac parts like Olds.

It would be cool as kcuf to be the last person in your area driving a well kept Pontiac GP. There are so many out on the road now, I think GP's will be much more noticeable when there's a smaller amount out on the road. This is the first car that I ever bought and payed for so I think I am gonna keep it the rest of my life, if I buy a new car or not.

I'm just glad I got one of the best Pontiacs ever produced. I sure hope Chevy can come with something as good as the G8 in the near future. You guys won't have to worry about getting parts for the Grand Prix, but I'm sure they won't sell Holden parts at the Chevy dealer.....

I can still get MOST parts for my Oldsmobile. Certain things I have some trouble with, but it's no biggie. And, I'm PROUD to own an Oldsmobile.

I thought about this earlier today and I think that they'll take the G8 and rebadge it as a GMC or Chevy and keep selling them. Chevy doesn't really have a rear drive sedan that I can think of . I'm hoping that's what they do or my next car is a tricked out malibu.

I think the impala is the only thing close (minus 100 hp) to matching the new g8's. I hope the g8 powertrain makes it somewhere in GM's line up. There is not many 4 door sedan's out there that one would classify as 'fast.'

An interesting article on why GM decided to axe Pontiac:

for everyone on the parts issue

legally they have to carry the parts for a car for 10 years so the 2nd gen will run out in 13 and the g8 in 2020
