The insulator for my intake finally arrived thus finishing off the intake portion of the car. Intake temps stay down pretty well when rolling, however I still think there is a heat soak issue when at idle. The motor needs to held in place more so I believe new motor mounts, tranny mount and poly mounts will be in order for next mods. Hopefully that will reduce some KR I'm seeing that is non-mechanical (as in KR that does not increase from higher rpm's but just appears briefly when engine rocks).

Poly mounts will def reduce your KR. I just recently flipped em on two different cars and reduced kr completely.

Try to see if you can get some insolating material like in the wizard intake- should help some. Having experimented to see how things are without the driver side headlight?

dude, why not just run an open cone with a big ass filter? from what i've read, the open cone is the best way to go. bends and all that just cause turbulent flow. i'm rockin an open cone and loving it thus far...

"run an open cone with a big *** filter". Do you realize that an open cone is considered to be a filter?

If you mean put the cone on the TB with the MAF sensor, then no. I will not do that. You would be drawing in heat directly from the motor, and the crossover on the header. Heatsoak would set in right away with the filter located there. Turbulent flow is hardly a concern with the K&N piping. Why do you think so many people try to isolate the heat from the filter with such contraptions like FWI/ Wizair/K&N kit? It's because heatsoak is an issue, and just because you get a whine doesn't mean your car's performance was improved.

you do relise that the M90 heats up the air any way? and a cone on the tb vs. in a box does nill for perfomance

^^ that is new info for me, i'll have to remember that for when i go top swap, it does give performance though if you run an IC and a K$N type filter though right? or does the air filter not really matter? long as its not the box

The intercooler is the only thing that will lower intake air temps enough to make any real difference. The effort into filter to throttle body portion is not worth all this effort.

this is all i was using on the GTX
Image

and the cutlass. the reson for the cutlass was battery location and i already had the filter. a box might have a benifiet on a N/A engine at idle and low speed but that is it

Makes sense. Did your car come to life after an intercooler AJ?

It came to life after the cam and once again after the E85, that's for sure.
