I'm looking to put in HID's i want a blueish color but know nothing about them, what watt or bulb i need, i once saw a how to on here that required cutting a new hole in the headlight hole. what can you guys send me to help me out? i also read that i need an H1 (i think it was) ? the easier the system the better-for my car knowledge isn't great- and cheap is always good :) thanks guys

i thought somewhere i saw a kit for $30 but now all im seeing is kits $100+
what about these kits? http://www.amazon.com/JLM-HID-Conversio ... B0029EVLQM

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000YP ... JWRWY6FAW7

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003P7 ... JWRWY6FAW7

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0029E ... JWRWY6FAW7

you need a 9006...no cutting required its plug and play. 8000k will give you a blueish tint with a great deal of light output

DDMTuning.com is where I and many other members get HID kits. 30 bucks for the regular kit.

Edit: Whoah, where did their digital slim kits go?

Maybe they don't have the slims because they are updating their page? I dunno, but the slims are definitely better, especially because they get rid of the radio interference that the regular ballasts put out ...

Haha, whoops. Homepage reading > me. Good catch. The slim ones are by far better.

I've always used 35W since they are plenty bright, but 55w is nice as well. The only thing with 55w is the color becomes more white, so a 55w 8000K will look more like a 35W 6000K. You don't need a code eliminator though. A harness is recommened since the GP wires are pretty lame, but people do run them without the harness. It all depends on if you disable DRL's and/or have flickering. I would order it just in case though. Also, you could get the mounting brackets, but they won't work for the slim ones, only the regular ballasts. Mine are just zipptied and 3M taped. Ghetto I know, but it works

As for plug and play, yeah, pretty much. What happens if you plug the regular wires going to your stock halogen bulb into one set of wires coming out of the ballast, then the wires coming from the HID bulb go into the ballasts. I honestly don't remember what the back of these headlights look like (I guess I could go look out in the garage but I'm lazy) so you might have to cut a small hole to run the wires through, but other than that it's a piece of cake.

To answer your question. Go with 6000k if your getting 35W hid kit (8000k if 55W hid kit) . Great light output and the little bit of blue tint is perfect. I had 8000k, they were nice for awhile but I got sick of the blue.

can any one post pics of these? http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/Apexc ... or-HID-Kit preferably in the 35W 6000 or 8000K? I want to see what they look like. bc i've seen some really bad HID's and i want to make sure these look good. I;m looking for a luxury car HID look. or will i have to go with projection lights for that look?

8000K is too high for a "luxury car color." If you're thinking of BMW, Lexus, MB, etc sort of HID's those are 4300K and in projector housings. 5000K still sort of looks like an OEM color with a little more white, and in my opinion 6000K still looks good, but it has a hint of blue.

Either way, putting HID's in a projector housing will not result in a "OEM Luxury car" look.

This should help:
appearance-f14/guide-to-hid-s-t23149.html

These are my 6000K in projectors. I liked my 4300K's better though.

-- Sun Feb 06, 2011 11:39 am --

can i get pics of 5 and 6k? like projected on the road? i really can't decide if i want to 5 or 6k bc i dont want something obnoxiously bright but want brighter than stock with a touch of blue, yet want that luxury car look.

also are the lights i posted above a good set? bc i've seen some REALLY bad HID lights driving around

I could probably get some output pics of DDM 5000K tonight but they are in projector housings as well.

It makes a very defined light pattern cut off with the output.

Ive used an 8000k 55w set up before on my 98... Its white/blue-ish...

I actually had a cheaper set at first with slim ballasts installed, and even with a relay kit installed, got alot of flicker or "one eye" (meaning one would fire, but the other wouldnt)...

Finally, I spent the hundred bucks and got a much better quality kit and all those problems went away...

What ever you do, just remember that you get what you play for...
