So i have all this grease build up in my right front wheel well. Its everywhere and to make it worse its being thrown up into my engine bay. I cant 100% pinpoint where its coming from. Maybe someone here has dealt with this. thanks.

Looks like CV Shaft Grease to me - I would check both CV shaft boots for leaks or breaks around the seam.

I used break cleaner to remove the grease - worked wonders lol

Had the same problem.. I wipped most of the stuff off and just used a hose to pressure wash it off.

the grease being thrown around I wouldnt say is the worry. the worry is fix whats throwing it around (cv boot) so either its fix the boot if its not too late. what I mean by that is if water, dirt etc. is in there then your late on catching it. or plan on replacing the halfshaft. if you dont know how it prolly run you aroung $200 to have a shop do it and i think they claim its a 3 hour job so expect for them to have your car all day. and after a while your halfshaft will get real bad and your car will drive like ****! at least thats what mine did

I've raced on a 1/4 mile like 4X and driven maybe 1 month with a bad CV boot... you're going to be fine, but try to get it taken care of quickly.

That salt they put on the roads eats that grease up really fast. Yeah, I drove mine at least another week and a half after noticing the grease everywhere. the real problem begins where all the grease stops protecting the friction areas in the joint. Friction = heat = parts failure = don't keep putting it off and get it fix soon

I once had a 84 Pontiac 6000 with a bad CV, it even clunked around corners and all but that car was such a POS that I just packed a bunch of Crisco into it and all was good until I got rid of the car LOL

The exact same thing happened to me last month, I guess my cv boot started to mess up. I was just gonna replace the boot, but I said screw it and replace the whole CV Shaft to be on the safe side.

Might not be a bad boot, can just be that the boot clamp lost its tension.

I have retensioned some at work and everything is fine.

Check to see if the boot has a crack or split. This can happen at the "points" if there is no leak, might be just the clamp.

Clean up - pressure washer at the car wash with the wheel turned all the way one dirrection.

If on the pass side you can go down under the hood next to the belts and blast it off.

I feel your pain, my swap car ate boots (6) untill I got the right length and type?

Me and a buddy spend a few hours monday replacing the whole axle, it was only like 70 bux from advance autoparts plus 15 bux for a 34mm axle nut socket. There is still grease everywhere inside my engine bay lol i guess its not the end of the world ill just try to clean what i can.
