Today as I pulled into the parking of the reapair shop to have my car looked at cause the engline light came on, someone backs right into me

Now I have to deal with this! And my abs/tc light and some alignment thing. And to top off my day I need a new catalytic converter which will cost 200 + just for the part not including labor.

Repairs Needed:

Body Work 500+
Catalytic Converter 200+/labor probably 100+
Alignment 80+?
Abs/Tc lights/problems between 100-300

Estimated total repairs probably 1000+

I just hope this treand does not continue......

Famous last words. My two cars have been a non-stop trains of (predictable) repairs. At least, most of it is doable at home.

Anyway, here's to hoping that your luck takes a turn for the good.

Thx I have an appointment for the body work to be done in the next couple of weeks, but unfortunatly the body shop did say they're gonna have to put some body fill in because the 'dent' went in pretty deep. i just hope it holds up.

You might want to look at buying a performance downpipe if you haven't already. That'll include your cat and probably be slightly cheaper. It's just four bolts to replace, no welding or anything.

$200 for a Cat...Really?!?!

Ebay cat for $60, it works.

ABS/TCS is your hub, figure out which one, buy a $60 hub and put it on.

Alignment is a 4 wheel alignment which is 90-100

Why are you paying for the body work? guy who hit you should be responsible, or was it a hit and run?

Not trying to be a dick, but man you are getting ripped a new one on some of those prices. Sucks to hear about your bad luck though, it will get better in time.

The 200 for the cat was the price from napa, the repair shop that is going to fix my car said he brought a cat for a base 2006 gp for 100 exact a couple of weeks ago ?! does anyone know why such a big difference?

I manage to find a place that will do a wheel alignment for 60 bucks.

I worked it out today with the guy that hit me, his paying for it ;-), even though i have to admit i think some blame can be put on me. manage not to involve the insurance company cause i know they will bring it somewhere in a nearby big city.

The ABS/TCS i'm gonna try to put it off for now, i don't think its really affecting anything??? other than no abs or tc but thats what i got studs for ;-)

The only down side the car has to be brought to 4 different shops to be fix

Is replacing the hub diffcult and would i need any special tools? I just figured out when I hit a pot hole the darn abs/tc/variable steering light comes one. but if aviod the pothole the light doesn't even come on?! So far the light only comes on when the right front wheel hit a bump/polehole. I should probably try the other side if its the same.

In short, replacing the hub isn't very difficult, and you can get loaner tools from many autoparts stores (I know Autozone loans the correct socket for the hub nut and also a bearing puller tool). You don't have to have the puller, but why not if they're going to loan it to you?

However, seeing as the light only comes on when you hit a pothole, you might consider that the electrical connector to the hub isn't making a good connection and needs to be cleaned, or maybe you have a break in the wire that connects to the hub. A number of people have reported on this forum that the wire/connector was the culprit, not the actual hub/sensor assembly.

I wish I had a warm garage to do this in... since not probably have to get it done at a repair shop tho :(... would it affect anything if i don't get it done right away might wait till warmer weather to get it done.

What is up with our color cars and accidents?

Either way, you have full coverage? My insurance company cover over 4k in repairs for it.

hahaha so true I was browsing through the forums the other day saw a lot of our colored cars being in accidents maybe red/maroon is a bad color?

From upstate NY, studs are amazing, in the past three days we've had a storm it would dump about a foot of snow then it all melts the next day!!!??? the day after that we have another snow storm Uggggg.

Theres a road heading to town that pretty steep, used that road when we had a snow storm I was pretty much the only car that made it up the hill without sliding backwards. (except the 4X4 pickup and SUVs)

-- Sun Jan 29, 2012 8:40 pm --

the second pic I have there, there was about 2 ft of snow there, don't know why I did it but I did it anyway I drove through the crap by the time I stopped I had to use the trunk to get out of the car. I wish now I took some photos.

The snow was going over the hood to the windshield

Did anyone else notice the opening in his front fascia? The splash shield is gone or something, you can see the ground through it.

From what I understand about the car was that after the guy fixed it (after the accident) the right side splash/plastic stuff was not replaced... It that something important? or expensive?

it was bugging the hell outta me that i could c through it so I put up a temporary thing for now till I figure out what to do.
