It's just plug and play. But to get the mileage to show correctly it requires the dealer to program it with a Tech2.

The mileage of whatever car it came out of. So if your car has 100,000 miles on it and the new DIC came out of a car with 50,000 miles on it, it will show 50,000 miles on the DIC.

Yep. But you will have to buy the "Ambient Air Temp Sensor" and the "Compass Module" if you want that to work. And if you find them used it will cost you and extra $80. But they aren't required.

Ambient Air Temp is exactly what it's name implies. It displays the temperature of the air outside of the car.

And since you have an 08 you will need wheel psi sensors, unless you already have them

being in canada won't make a difference as you can choose standard or metric settings.

also if you don't get it programmed write down the mileage the car had and the mileage when you installed the new dic so you don't get f**ked over at an inspection

None. The plugs are already there. Just have to buy the sensor and compass module and plug them in.

are the plugs all in the dash or in the engine bay? because now knowing that this is straight up plug n play this may be my next mod without a doubt...on a side note isn't it illegal for the dealers to change the mileage?

The plug for the compass module is under the rear deck. The plug for the ambient air temp sensor is behind the grills just before the radiator. And I'm not really sure on the legality on dealers reprogramming the DIC.

It's hit or miss on some grand prixs having the compass module plug. Some years/models have it and some dont but you have to take the back seet out and rear deck trim to find out for sure.

Any 04 ive taken apart I seen them present, but some 05's didnt have em.

All models seem to have the temp sensor plug in front though, It;s a green two wire connector.

I just went through this not too long ago on Dad's car.
His '07 didn't have the connector for the compass module.
The front temp sensor is easy to install.
Pull the clips for the front grill cover up top between the headights.
Pull the cover forward and you should see the socket and plug there.
As for synching the mileage, you'll need the dealer to do that.
I hope that works.
It didn't for Dad.

well I'm kind of sidetracking this post, but with the 3 button DIC if we add the ambient t sensor, since the wiring is already run on a 07 gp... it won't read it?

Also does the DIC display multiple warnings, like right now the TPMS are not on the winter tires ,and I get the message on startup, need to press the arrow button to acknowledge it... and off, let's say something else is wrong, oil change, or another code will it display..

thanks!

No, the 3 button DIC will not read the ambient temperature even if you have the sensor installed. And the 5 button DIC will display more things such as: Oil Life Left, Instant Gas Mileage, Average Gas Mileage, Miles Left on the current tank of gas, Average Speed, a timer, Battery Voltage, Transmission Fluid Temp, and Engine Hours. And of course the ambient air temperature, compass heading and everything a 3 button DIC displays.
