I added a strobe blinker to my third light, my cruise control stopped working not to long afterward. Do you think this would have something to do with it? I hate to take it off since I like the way it looks on my car.

One thing I've heard can kill cruise control is water in the brake lights. If the brake lights short out it'll knock off your cruise.

You need the 3rd brake light so cruise will work.. NO 3rd brake light no cruise control..

Here's a story that seems to fit here:

I had a new '89 Turbo GP... I was on cruise control, doing about sixty as I came
up behind a slower vehicle. I stepped on the brakes, slowing down to about 40 to
match the speed of the guy in front. By this time, I'm about four car-lengths behind
him.

When I let my foot off the brake, the cruise re-engaged, rocketing me towards the
rear of the slower vehicle at full throttle. Startled, I nailed the brake again, bringing
the car under control. The moment I let me foot off the brake, the car went WOT
all by itself, yet again. This time, I shut the cruise off via its switch and the problem
stopped.

Turned out to be a faulty brake light switch.

But, seriously, if something like that fails, shouldn't it turn off the cruise, not lock
it on?

Easily the scariest ride I ever had in that old TGP.

makes me wonder if that strobe blinker changed the resistance of the bulb and is making it not work right.

I would agree with this ^

try putting the stock bulb back in and see if it solves the problem. If it works fine stock you may beed a resistor or something to run the strobe.
