Your gauge cluster looks like a christmas tree what all lights are on? Looks like ABS and something else.

Here in Southeast Missouri, I cannot find "thin walled" PVC pipe at Lowe's or Home Depot, even tried some smaller hardware stores to no avail. Questions; 1) Will schedule 40 3" PVC work or is it too thick? 2) What about 3" exhaust pipe that is painted with heat resistant paint instead of PVC? I really want to do this mod soon, thanks for the replies.
BTW, 2005 Grand Prix GT.

My 3 inch pipe was to thick walled and I actually took a dremel tool and ground down the thickness of an edge so the filter would be able to attach to it haha. I dont recommend this but Ghetto rig works some times.

thanks that does help.

what is the difference between the cone being open (just haning in the engine bay), in the fender, and in a home made box with a viewing window?

Holy cow!!! You're GP has a rotary swap?!?!?! J/K J/K. Yeah there are measurements for making a box somewhere on this site. I'll see if I can dig them up.

Bummer, I found the thread, but the pics are dead.

Ok, so I have completed the DIY FWI and have a couple of more questions. 1) Is it necessary to disconnect the negative battery cable for the car to relearn the new intake? I have driven it about 200 miles without any problems and I have not done this. 2) Should there be a drop in MPG's? Using the DIC it appears that I may have had a drop in MPG's. I thought that it would increase since the engine is ingesting more cold air.
Thanks for the replies.
Dennis

The picture which doesn't appear had the dimensions, sorry.

Some people just ziptie the PCM (the main engine brain so it's pretty darn important haha) or figure out some other way to keep it from moving around. You could also make a slot in your box if you want to get really fancy.

It's not necessary to disconnect the battery. Also there shouldn't be a drop in MPG's unless you are now using the Go pedal more. Indeed, with an intake the MPG's should increase, or at least stay the same, but not decrease if you are maintaining your previous driving inputs.

You can do whatever you want to make sure it doesn't move around as long as it doesn't include welding it to the frame rail.
The one on the lady friend's 97 (which is 10x bigger than the 04+'s) is just ziptied down and I've never had a problem with it in.
K&N intakes have a slot to just slide the PCM into so you could get fancy and make something like that into your box.
