ok... so i am about to order the zzp downpipe. 3" SS bolt in w/cat. I will be getting the 3" exit on it as well. That said, I noticed my resonator was rotten and needs to be replaced. It measured around the 40" long. A magnaflow ss resonator is 3" in/out and 20" long. Would it help with noise to add a second resonator? 2 in line.... make it 40".. ?

Magnaflow makes longer resonators. I have a 36" magnaflow resonator and like it. A lot of guys swap the res for a glasspack or something similar also.

nice little update.... I got my zzp downpipe and found out i needed an O2 extension as mine was 6" too short. I looked at zzp website and it says nothing about needing an extension when you look at the downpipes...but... if you look at the wiring extension, it says you need it if you buy a downpipe... wtf! So either way, I made my own with my old O2 sensor. After I got everything set, I scanned it, cleared all codes, and away I went. Drove it a couple days and had no issues or codes. Took it to get smogged today and the guy says it passes everything except he couldnt find a carb number on the cat. So had to fail me cuz no carb number. Anyone know what the carb numbers are for zzp cats? My extension for DMV expires on May 1st.

i call total bullshit... of all the exhaust companies listed on CARB, not a single one makes a cat for the 2004 grand prix. Now that I wasted $250 bucks on an pipe that does me no good. Is my only choice I am left with buying a factory downpipe from a stealership?

It's just a cat, it doesn't have to be for 2004 grand prix, get a generic one. I bought a high flow maganaflow cat that is CARB leagal and passed with no problems.
