Is there anyway to change the factory settings. The owners manual say when you turn on the AC after sometime it allows some of the outside air in. Is there anyway of stopping this.

I remember reading that too but i dont think there is anyway of adjusting it, however after i converted to dual climate in my 04 i dont think it does this and why i think this is in the manual under the dual climate section if says if recirculation if left on for extended periods It will cause the air to become dry or somthing like that. I will make a note of this when i change my cabin air filter and post back.

^ How did you convert to dual climate? Explain. I want this. lol

X3 on converting to digital climate control... very interested on how you did it.

Alright, when I did this swap I did not have a camera to take pictures due to it coming up with a zoom error, of all times for it to happen but you basically need these parts to do this;

Digital dual climate control from an 05(newer may probably work but cant guarantee it)(Ebay for around $60)
Temperature control valve/flap P/N:89018311 (bought new for $55.75)
Sunload sensor p/n: 25713063
4 x Duct temperature sensors P/N:12160947 (I bought these new for $9.19 each)
Inside cabin air temperature sensor(Ebay around $30)
Left temperature actuator motor P/N:15844096 (this is the same part as the recirculation and temp motor on all models)(local salvage yard with sun sensor for around $30)
Hvac box screws(I got these from older sunfires where you can reach up and remove them)These will be used to reassemble the blower case and mount the driver side temp motor
Lastly you will need the connectors for these items, the digital climate control has two smaller connectors.

If you get into contact with morad parts and give him the part numbers he can usually get a package for you at a great price(probably a lot cheaper then I paid for all of mine) and usually even includes the connectors. Or grab them when you pull the parts at a local yard.

Basically to do the conversion it requires removing the complete dash which isnt as difficult as it sounds, as for the wiring since I wanted to install other options as well I got the entire harness out of an 04 and added all the connectors for almost every option including the dual climate system and removed everything and swapped harnesses then reassembled.
To do it just the climate control system you have to do the mechanical part of it which includes removing the dash, then the metal part the dash bolts to(with this part there are hidden bolts around the brake pedal connection, and then some that hold the hvac blower case to it.)
Once you get this removed you will have access to the hvac blower case and youll see it is held together in sections by plastic rivets, these must be gently drilled, and the top section removed(there is a place beside each rivet to put the screws that I mentioned earlier).
If you are patient you can install the new temperature control flap(which is the same thing as the origional but has a swival for two different sides) without draining your A/C and your engine coolant by removing the screws under the hood by the ac lines that hold the hvac blower case against the firewall and then go back into the car and CAREFULLY pull back the blower case without damaging or twisting the ac lines as they wont tolarate much twisting.
This should give you Just enough room to get the rivets near the back and then you can partially seperate the middle section of the blower case and the lower and remove your old flap and install your new one.(To make it easier I carefully broke the old flap in half without damaging the case so I could get it out it is a tight squeeze, then the new one just goes in in two pieces so no problem there. then you can reassemble and bolt together the blower case.
You can then install the left temperature control motor(if this motor is turned too far in either direction to fit it on and align with the bolt holes just apply 12 volts to the two terminals to move it untill you can line everything up). Right now if you go out to your car and look up under the drivers side you can see a white thing poking out of the blower case and holes beside it, this is where your driver side temp motor goes
This takes care of the mechanical aspect of the project.

I will start with the 4 duct temp sensors, there are two at the bottom of the blower case(you can actually see where they go if you look under your dash and you will see two holes already there on each side near the floor vents I beleave, then the other 2 top ones...one goes before the vent on the dic panel, if you pull this panel off you will see a flat surface on the duct where this sensor mounts, you will need to make a hole in the duct to install it, the same goes the the right air duct(the one right next to the dic one on the passenger side) The function of these four sensors is for the climate control to know the temperature of the air coming out of the vents.

Now for the cabin air temp sensor, this one goes just on the other side of that little vent hole below your ignition switch, it has four wires two goes to the climate control, one goes to the climate control power wire and the other is a ground. Now you know what that little vent thingy was meant for,lol

The sunload sensor goes where your current one goes and instead of having two wires this one will have four, the same two for the headlamp circuit and then two extra that go to the climate control and this measures the amount of sunlight on each side of the vehicle to adjust the temperature as nessesary.(Now some of you may have this sensor in your 04 and some will not since it was the base one in mine but yet I found the dual climate light sensor one in an other 04 at the salvage yard with a 4 pin connector but with only two wires, Im thinking they must have run short on base ones at one time in production)

Now you can connect all the wires(I will include all the diagrams so no worry, just have to figure out how to succesfully upload them on here) and any time you have to join a wire you should make sure they are soldered, if you dont have a soldering iron its a good investment now as it will save many problems later on. It should be pretty staright forward connecting the wires as far as colors go and plus you will have the diagrams needed, also its important to note which sensor connector goes where like upper left upper right etc so the climate control doesnt get confused by readings from the wrong vents.

Once you get everything together and start the car you have to leave it run for 1 minute without touching the climate control, this is to allow it to calibrate itself and the temp and mode actuators.
I wouldnt say its a project for everyone, but if you know a little about electrical and mechanical just take your time, note where stuff goes and should be alright, also study the diagrams closely over a few times and get to see how it all the electrical comes together and compare the 05 automatic diagrams with the 04 manual single diagrams and you will be able to see the differences.
If you can get the parts from a local yard that lets you pull your own parts this gives you the great oppertunity to take things apart and see how things go and make mistakes on the scrap car first.

It is also important to note that the bcm does NOT have to be reprogrammed for this to work, which saves some hassle, however the digital climate control comes with heated seat buttons and if you get heated seats later on you will have to have the bcm enabled for the heated seat fuinction to work.

I have to go out and do some errands for the evening but Im thinking tommorow I can retrive these diagrams and connector views and will post back. Will also include pictures of the finished installation in my 04.
