Hey everyone ..I have a 2006 pontiac grand prix 3800 base model...It has 36,000 miles and I take pretty good care of her as far as maintance and regular cleanings...For the past year my 68 y.o. mother has been driving this car since it is the newest car in the family and has the least miles and is most reliable...Last week the original Ac Delco battery started having a little problem with low cranking amps it was still reading a good 12v on the dash and 14v on the charge cycle, but the parts store said the cranking amps were low so I found Walmarts Everstart Maxx battery was high rated so I took it over there to have one installed..Everything went well except the mechanic left a grease stain on the light colored seat...Fast forward 6 days mom goes to town and when she got back in the car to come home the HVAC fan would not function on any setting...The Blender servos are still working I can hear them groaning away as you dial through those settings. The Ac clutch will kick on and off. All the dash lights and all other electrics are working as they should..I checked all the fuses on the passenger side of the dash and checked the fuses under the dash. The fan motor had shown no previous signs of being tired or only working intermitialy, it just quit all at once..I found a service bulletine on this issue from GM siting a resistor that could be faulty. The cold weather is coming and I would like to get this issue fixed up asap, so if any of you guys have had the same issue and have the fix could you let me know I would really appreciate it....Thanks in advance Eric in Cartersville Georgia...

If it was the resistor, I believe there would be different symptoms such as only working on the highest setting and not turning off when the car is off. Honestly it sounds like the blower motor just went bad. When my original one went bad, I bought an ACDelco replacement only to have it go bad just a year later. I'm now on my 3rd blower motor for my 04.

Try removing the HVAC fuse from the fuse panel on the right side of the dash for one minute.

Reinstall the fuse, start the car and leave running for about two minutes without touching any controls/climate control, after two minutes have passed with the carrunning retry the climate control try adjusting the knobs and see if everything is working perfect.

The fuse thing basically gets the climate control to self calibrate .
