Driving home from school tonight I had a ses light come on. Car starts, drives, just like it always does. Doesnt smell bad and I double checked the gas cap was tight. Just rolled 93,000 miles. What are common problems to be happening right now?

thanks, car problems stress me out so I want to get it fixed up asap. Ill get it scanned in the morning.

Just put a peace of electrical tape over it...

j/k
It could be a million things,
Best thing to do is goto an auto parts store & get it scanned, like you said
Not really something you can go into blindly...

When was the last time you rotated the air in your tires?
Also...a change of blilnker fluid will only last about 90,000mi, so might want to check on that too

Didnt know if it was common for a sensor to go bad about now.

Did they put in hot air or cold air??

With winter weather approaching you would be best running warm air so it will melt the snow and you will get much better traction...

best bet would be to just run up to Charlotte to the AutoZone on Lansing Rd. and they wil scan it for free and give you a print out of what it could be and can help you narrow it down

hit up advanced or autozone

they can ready only the engine codes.

if that doesn't pull anything up you may need to find a member w/ a tuner or hit a dealer to read the abs and tranny codes

Nope, no ABS or Traction Control. I thought it would be nice to not have it, wish I had it every day now. Only takes a few high speed 360's to realize how needed ABS is. Had a deer run out in front of me on I94, car did 3 360's across 3 lanes of traffic and ended up in the opposite lane of traffic. Guy right behind me nailed the deer, feel bad for him until I seen my flat spotted tires(goodyears). Put some cheap tires on it then and now I drive with caution when it comes to braking.

Had the car scanned and it is a MAP Barometric Pressure Sensor that has a high output. What exactly does that even mean? lol After he scanned it the light went off. What do I do now? Thanks guys and girls :)

Well, before you get too excited...
Did he delete the code for you? (I hope so)
I would wait for the code to come back to see if it's a real issue

I've had random codes in the past
I reset the code to never see it again...

As far as the code, Google is your friend:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAP_sensor
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=MA ... 0&ie=UTF-8

From the looks, you have a GT (L26). In which case, it'll be on top of the Intake manifold. If you do have the L32 than ignore all that haha.

I don't have ABS either... I'm not too worried since I live in a warm climate.

It's actually been taken off of the standard list, and put on the Option list.. a LOT of cars went this direction last year.. (just another way to nickel and dime you..)

Can't help you with the code but since you mention you have an 04 with 93k....change the fuel filter yet? The 04 model year has a special out-of-tank filter that is specific only to the 04 MY GPs. The 03 prior only have 2 ports (outlet and inlet) while the 05+ have an in-tank filter. When I did mine a couple years back I could only get the GM part, no aftermarket, it cost around $45.

ABS became an option in the early 2000s with air conditioning becoming standard. Everybody uses air conditioning. Even in the winter the compressor comes on to help defrost. ABS is really only useful to people living in areas of regular precipitation (snow, rain) and isn't so much for those in Southern states. With the U.S. government requiring Electronic Stability Control as a standard feature, ABS will soon again be standard on all new vehicles.

^ I don't know if I'd go that far. Electronic Stability Control is not Traction Control.. So I don't see ABS coming back as standard any time soon...

There's a scanner outlet underneath the lower dash trim below the steering column. It links up with the other computer systems in the car such as the PCM, BCM, DIC, etc.
