This should be placed in the "Mod and other important info" sticky so it doesn't get lost.

I got a U1153 code today, didn't see it on the list.
I believe it's a BCM vs. PCM fight, like a husband & wife bickering...
Something about Blah, blah, fuel password, blah, blah...

Anybody?

Anything with a U in front of it is a Network code, this is what I found;
DTC U1153 Loss of Communications with CCP

Now what a CPP is, is beyond me.

DTC P2101

Circuit Description

The commanded throttle position (TP), based on accelerator pedal position (APP), is compared to the actual throttle position. The TP values should be within a calibrated range of each other. The throttle actuator control (TAC) module monitors the commanded and actual throttle position. If the TAC module detects that the commanded and actual throttle positions are not within a calibrated range of each other, a message is sent to the powertrain control module (PCM) across serial data and DTC P2101 is set.

DTC Descriptor

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:

DTC P2101 Control Module Throttle Actuator Position Performance

Conditions for Running the DTC

The ignition is in the crank or run position.
The system is not in Battery Saver mode.
The ignition voltage is more than 5.23 volts.
The communication between the TAC module and the PCM must be valid.
Conditions for Setting the DTC

The TAC module detects that the commanded and actual throttle positions are not within a calibrated range of each other. OR
The TAC module or the PCM cannot determine throttle position.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The control module illuminates the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) when the diagnostic runs and fails.
The control module records the operating conditions at the time the diagnostic fails. The control module stores this information in the Freeze Frame and/or the Failure Records.
The control module commands the TAC system to operate in the Reduced Engine Power mode.
A message center or an indicator displays Reduced Engine Power.
Under certain conditions the control module commands the engine OFF.
Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC

The control module turns OFF the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) after 3 consecutive ignition cycles that the diagnostic runs and does not fail.
A current DTC, Last Test Failed, clears when the diagnostic runs and passes.
A history DTC clears after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles, if no failures are reported by this or any other emission related diagnostic.
Clear the MIL and the DTC with a scan tool.
Diagnostic Aids

Inspect for mechanical conditions or for binding that may be temperature related. Components may not move freely in extreme heat or cold due to the presence of contaminants or ice formation.
If the condition is intermittent, refer to Intermittent Conditions .

Engine Control Module (ECM) Description

The powertrain has electronic controls to reduce exhaust emissions while maintaining excellent driveability and fuel economy. The engine control module (ECM) is the control center of this system. The ECM monitors numerous engine and vehicle functions. The ECM constantly monitors at the information from various sensors and other inputs, and controls the systems that affect vehicle performance and emissions. The ECM also performs the diagnostic tests on various parts of the system. The ECM can recognize operational problems and alert the driver via the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). When the ECM detects a malfunction, the ECM stores a diagnostic trouble code (DTC). The problem area is identified by the particular DTC that is set. The control module supplies a buffered voltage to various sensors and switches. Review the components and wiring diagrams in order to determine which systems are controlled by the ECM.

Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Description

The powertrain control module (PCM) interacts with many emission related components and systems, and monitors emission related components and systems for deterioration. OBD II diagnostics monitor the system performance and a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) sets if the system performance degrades.

The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) operation and the DTC storage are dictated by the DTC type. A DTC is ranked as a Type A or Type B if the DTC is emissions related. Type C is a non-emissions related DTC.

The PCM is in the engine compartment. The PCM is the control center of the engine controls system. The PCM controls the following components:

The fuel injection system
The ignition system
The emission control systems
The on-board diagnostics
The A/C and fan systems
The PCM constantly monitors the information from various sensors and other inputs, and controls the systems that affect the vehicle performance and the emissions. The PCM also performs diagnostic tests on various parts of the system. The PCM can recognize operational problems and alert the driver via the MIL. When the PCM detects a malfunction, it stores a DTC. The condition is identified by the particular DTC that is set. This aids the technician in making repairs.

PCM Function

The powertrain control module (PCM) can supply 5 volts or 12 volts to the various sensors or switches. This is done through pull-up resistors to the regulated power supplies within the control module. In some cases, even an ordinary shop voltmeter will not give an accurate reading because the resistance is too low. Therefore, a DMM with at least 10 megaohms input impedance is required in order to ensure accurate voltage readings.

The PCM controls the output circuits by controlling the ground or the power feed circuit through the transistors or a device called an output driver module.

*** The only grand prix i could find with an ECM is the GXP 5.3L***

Alex, awesome find on the DTC's, but I don't believe that it is a complete list. I found this link, and it seems to be more thorough;

They are the same thing, just a different name for them.

ECM= Engine Control Module
PCM = Powertrain Control Module

well the funny thing is the gxp it is called the ECM and everything else is called the PCM

and they only really put them both there so the shop tech guy would know offhand w/o looking it up

I see GTP ECM's on Ebay quite often. It all depends on what you want to call it.
